Schedule of Events
We will be conducting four meditation classes all in one day. Topics will be:
Renunciation: What does it mean? 10:30-11:30am
Compassion: One wing of a bird; necessary to progress. 12:00-1:00pm
Wisdom: The other wing: now you can fly. 2:00-3:00pm
Loving kindness: Necessary for happiness. 3:30-4:30pm
Everyone is welcome, even if you have never meditated before. Doors open at 10:15am. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Bring your questions, a light lunch and perhaps something to drink. Chairs will be provided. We recommend loose, comfortable and warm clothing (as it is still March!). If you prefer a meditation cushion (and you have one), please bring it. There will be a one hour break from 1pm to 2pm for lunch.

Welcome to Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre (AKBC)
AKBC is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT), a branch of Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism that has been active in the west since 1977. NKT presents Buddha's message of love, compassion and skillful living in a way that makes it easy for westerners to approach, understand and practice.
We offer introductory classes on Buddhism (Drop-in classes), meditation classes for beginners, guided meditations, retreats, or special courses. We offer all level of Buddhist studies, books on meditation; Buddhism, helpful reference materials, and the fellowship of a spiritual community.
Meditation is for everyone, regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, or orientation. We welcome everyone, including people of all faiths, to any of our Kadampa meditation centres throughout the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. There are over 1,100 Kadampa meditation centres and groups worldwide.
